Martham Recreation Ground Case Study: Condition Report

Martham is a village nine miles north of Great Yarmouth. The Martham Recreation Ground Trust exists to manage, maintain and improve the public recreation ground, sports facilities, playground and skate park in Martham.

Richard Jackson are engineering consultants and chartered building surveyors operating from offices in Colchester, London, Cambridge, Norwich and Bristol. Their core services include structural, civil and geotechnical engineering, pre-planning, building and insurance surveying, project management and expert witness.

“Andy’s help was invaluable to us, specifically pointing out what needed doing and where, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Andy and ProHelp for getting this much needed project off the ground.”

Ian Bradford, Trustee, Martham Recreation Ground Trust

Project Summary

The Trust was aware that the changing rooms at the facilities were no longer fit for purpose. Having taken some initial funding advice, they asked ProHelp for a surveyor to carry out a condition report to kick off the project. Andy Dransfield of Richard Jackson carried out the work, the value of which if charged for would have been £900.

Impact

The project delivered:

  • The report was essential before any capital project could begin
  • The report ensured that the scheme could be successfully progressed to the next stage
  • The new changing facilities will mean that the recreation ground is used more frequently and by more members of the community and around

“We were pleased to assist with this project at a very early stage and are delighted to hear that works are now being undertaken to provide new and improved facilities to the local community.  Investing just a few hours of time can make a difference for many years to so many people in a community and we believe that this helps to set us apart from many other companies within our industry.”
